Namring: A Tea Lover's Paradise

Comprising of 450 hectares, Namring is the second largest tea estate producing Darjeeling tea. It is settled in the eastern part of the Darjeeling district, and its beginnings date back to1855, making it one of the oldest. In addition to the tea factory, this estate is comprised of a power house, ropeway, hospital, playground, and a library, thereby providing stable employment and support for many in the community.

The tea estate consists of a combination of Chinese tea plants (camelia sinensis sinensis) which produce a non-astringent, light tea, clonal tea plants which are meticulously cultivated from a plant which are more resistant to environmental fluctuations, and a small portion of Assam tea plants (camelia sinensis assamica) which provides a more intense and malty flavour. It sits 3,000ft above sea level, meaning that tea grown here is subjected to cold winters which are slow to ease – which results in a gentle and delicate first flush which has grown without haste.

Now, Char are delighted to be part of this tea garden’s rich history, and we are especially delighted to be able to offer our customers an exclusive special reserve of first flush FTGFOP1 (Finest, Tippy, Golden, Flowery Orange Pekoe of the highest grade) Darjeeling Namring tea. The taste is fresh, light, flowery, and aromatic. Perfect for anyone looking for something special for a friend or loved-one this Christmas season.
