Char opened its doors to tea lovers in August 2006 and quickly established a reputation as the go-to destination for high quality loose leaf tea. During this period, we've had great fun and success introducing people to the diverse world of tea and are delighted to now count many of our customers as friends - it's always a pleasure to see them!

Our mission is in two parts: Firstly, to bring to our friends and customers the very best teas from China, India, and around the World at the very best prices, and secondly to make tea buying at Char a happy event - after all we want to see you again!

Our professional buyers work closely with growers, importing directly where possible. The tasting and analysis of Assam and Darjeelings is undertaken for us by our trusted partners in India and China to ensure the high quality and exclusivity of our teas.

In the case of our perfumed teas, we appoint specialist perfuming houses to ensure the same quality and consistency expected by Char customers.
