Jane Austen & Tea: Making Matches
We decided to base the next undertaking for our Jane Austen tea series on one of Jane's biggest-selling books: Emma. Like the book, this tea had to be vibrant, eventful, and with an unexpected twist. As with all of her novels, Emma was published anonymously, and it did not achieve widespread fame during Jane's lifetime. Since then, however, millions of people all around the world have been charmed by the well-meaning match-maker Emma Woodhouse in spite of her limited vision.
It was therefore fitting that this match of flavours be unconventional but a pairing that really works. Enter: Strawberry and Pink Pepper Tea.
This blend incorporates a few Regency garden favourites (strawberry, elderberry, and rosehip) with a zingy shock of just a few pink peppercorns, on a base of a non-astringent Chinese black keemun tea which means that this blend can be enjoyed with or without milk.
Try this unexpected delight for yourself! We particularly recommend it as a cold brew on a hot, South of England summer's day - perhaps at a garden picnic with some close friends or a book club!
