The name of this tea - Lapsang Souchong - has been anglicised from the Chinese Zheng Shan Xiao Zong, which means 'Zheng mountains small tea variety'. Our Lapsang Souchong comes from Fujian and is made from larger, more mature leaves that have been withered and dried and then smoked. Once considered to be a 'man's tea', this is for those who like a strong, bold flavour. It is traditionally loved by outdoor enthusiasts and often drunk after long walks, cycling or other outdoor activities.

I really like them being in a biodegradable bag, I like buying them from somewhere local-ish, and I've had real difficulty finding lapsang tea bags at all, so finding them here was great. Also sent out quickly. But... They do seem extremely weak. I'm not sure if I'll buy them again... Having said that, it is the only tea I like, and, given all the pluses, I may continue with them if I don't have luck elsewhere.

As far as strength is concerned, please be aware that our brewing guidelines that say to allow the tea to infuse for two minutes are intended as advice - so if you prefer your brew stronger than that, then by all means increase the infusion time! I love the flavour of the Char Lapsang Souchong tea bags, but I would prefer it if they were a bit stronger. I don't know if I would achieve this if I used loose tea instead of bags, but I don't really have time to deal with a teapot these days.
Bought lapsang souchong tea for my husband - he absolutely raves about it, just loves it! The pyramid bags seem to release the flavour in abundance. Excellent quality tea, thank you 😊
