Packing a hefty punch and a stronger tea than most, this Breakfast FBOP (finest broken orange pekoe) is the ultimate breakfast tea. We have sourced this tea from the famous Mangalam tea garden in Assam. This tea is deliciously malty with a rich spicy taste. Full of golden tips the leaf produces a beautiful dark amber brew. Mangalam selected Assamica hybrids which they developed and then planted unusually close together, producing large leaves and many golden tips. Assam's full-bodied malty flavour makes it an excellent breakfast tea. You can enjoy it with or without milk.
New York Breakfast, the Assam Breakfast Tea
Assam is the largest tea growing area in the world, where 2,000 gardens can produce almost 450,000 tons of tea each year. Assam tea accounts for about 55 per cent of India's total annual production. Assam is a vast and beautiful area of dense forests and open rolling plains through which the mighty Brahmaputra river runs, carrying rich fertile soil down from the mountains of Tibet to the agricultural plains. Exceptionally high rainfall (sometimes exceeding 10m in just one season) produces a very humid environment comparable to being inside a vast greenhouse - consequently the plants thrive, producing a tea that is very different to Darjeeling.

New York Breakfast tea is our favourite breakfast brew - a real treat for the weekend! We love the balance between strength and roundness of flavour, and between maltiness and smoothness of taste. I'm a Char Teas caddy nerd, with quite a collection, and Popeye is right up there for me - making for a fun, iconic label.
Trouble is, it never lasts long enough, and sometimes goes out of stock in Winchester too.

Spoilt by Australian T2 New York breakfast tea we hoped to find the same delectable flavour with your tea but alas no. Sadly it has ended in the compost and I've sourced the real thing elsewhere.
