Tea Information
Type Black Tea
Origin Yunnan, China
Format Loose Leaf Tea
Taste Thick, Strong, Malty and non-astringent
Brewing Advice Use one heaped dessert spoon per cup. Add fresh boiling water. Infuse for two minutes or according to taste. Suitable for two infusions.

Usually known as Golden Needle, this loose-leaf tea is a treasure yet to be discovered by most English tea drinkers. This a connoisseur tea which our Chinese tea buyer describes as the best black tea in China today. Notice the long rolled up leaves and the golden colour. This is a must try tea from the Yunnan province of China. Golden breakfast is a non-astringent tea and we recommend you drink it without milk and sugar although it is suitable for milk and sugar if you prefer. The cup is a deep golden brown. The taste is full bodied, malty and with a sweet after-taste. Good at breakfast or in the afternoon.

Nice tea and pours well

Nice tea and pours well but not really a tea I'd take with milk..for my tastes. And I like milk with tea

Hi John,
Thank you for your review. You are absolutely right, this is a black tea made from the Chinese variety of the tea plant which is much lighter in taste and has much less astringency, and so is ideal for anyone who does not want to have their tea with milk. However, all of our other breakfast teas use the Assamica variety of the tea plant which is the 'black tea' most of us in the UK will be familiar with, so please explore these as they are ideal to be enjoyed with milk! If you like a strong brew, I particularly recommend the Bishop's Breakfast for a refreshing, complex morning tea.
Best wishes,
Nina
