Vivid, fruit-forward, and naturally uplifting, sea buckthorn tea is an infusion built around the bright tang of sea buckthorn berries, balanced with soft apple sweetness and a gentle floral finish. It can be enjoyed hot for a warming cup, or served cold as a refreshing iced tea during summer.

Sea buckthorn has a long history of traditional use across Eurasia. Genghis Khan is said to have relied on his three treasures: a well-organised army, strict discipline, and sea buckthorn. Supposedly, he used it to boost his army's strength, stamina and recovery, and it was often called the "holy fruit" or "liquid gold".

Benefits of Sea Buckthorn Tea

Sea buckthorn berries are widely discussed for their naturally occurring vitamins, antioxidants and fatty acids, including omega 3, 6, 7 and 9.

For many people, the benefits of sea buckthorn tea are less about strong herbal intensity and more about choosing a vibrant, fruit-based infusion with a long tradition behind it.

As with any herbal or fruit infusion, individual experiences vary. If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, taking medication, or managing a medical condition, it’s best to seek professional advice before adding new herbal products to your routine.

Char Teas’ Perfect Summer Teas

Sea buckthorn tea is an impeccable choice for a refreshing, fruity summer tea to be served over ice.

Char Tea offers a wide range of fruity teas, but our favourite to have while either basking in the sun in the garden or enjoying a cool summer evening is our tangy rosehip and hibiscus tea, or if you prefer something sweeter, there is nothing better than a smooth peach tea.

FAQs

Is sea buckthorn tea very sour?

It’s naturally tangy. If you prefer it softer, shorten the steeping time or add a little honey.

Can I drink sea buckthorn tea iced?

Of course. For a refreshing iced tea, brew the tea hot, let it cool for 10-20 minutes, and then pour it over ice.

Really packs a punch! No wishy-washy nonsense: this is a fruit tea that you can really taste

Really packs a punch! No wishy-washy nonsense: this is a fruit tea that you can really taste. Love it! Accidentally bought double, which is lucky, because I can't get enough of it...

Very pleasant!

This tea is new to me, and I tried it because of the description, showing that it’s full of vitamins etc, as I had a cold. I don’t know if it helped medicinally, but I certainly felt better. It’s lovely and I think would work really well as an ice tea in the summer.
