Buy Palace Pu Erh, also known as Gong Tin, Gongting, Palace Pu'er and Palace Puer, online today from Char Teas UK.

The humid climate, high altitude and fertile soil of the Yunnan province of China provide the perfect environment to grow the high-quality teas for which Yunnan is famous. 'Gong tin' means means 'palace' in Chinese - referring to the Emperor.

The tender golden leaf tips that are used for this tea produce a full sweet yet spicy taste with a malty, soft aftertaste - fit for the Emperor, of course.

Pu erh tea is widely sold as a weight loss tea and is regularly used as a main ingredient in commercially prepared weight loss tea mixtures. Although there is, as yet, no empirically backed evidence as to how Pu erh tea might facilitate weight loss, there are widely proposed explanations. The belief is that the tea increases the drinkers metabolic rate and that the high tannin level reduces nutrient absorption.

Whatever your reasons for drinking Puerh it is one of the most interesting teas of China and drunk around the World for its distinctive taste as well as its health properties.

Unfortunately the tea I had ordered was out of stock and I was contacted both by email and a call to offer me a higher quality alternative. It was fantastic service and our call most informative about the wonderful cultural context of puerh tea. Great service on top of really excellent products. I wouldn't buy my tea from any where else!

Rich and Decadent

A beautiful deep amber colour with a slightly spicy smell. The taste has just a hint of sweetness mingling with the slight spice and malty flavour. Has a lovely long aftertaste perfect for mid morning and afternoon.
