Delivery

Delivery Timescales

Whilst every reasonable effort shall be made to keep to a delivery, any statement made by the company on delivery cannot be guaranteed and the company shall not be liable for any losses, costs, damages or expenses incurred by the customer or any other person or company arising directly out of any failure to meet any estimated delivery date. The risk in the goods shall pass from the company to the customer upon delivery of such goods to the customer.

To facilitate a prompt delivery, please give a delivery address where someone will be in. All delivery instructions should be stated at the time of ordering (e.g. leave with neighbour, leave in secure porch).

Char UK can accept no responsibility for transport delays or circumstances outside their control causing late delivery. Neither Char UK, nor their designated carrier will accept claims for consequential loss due to late deliveries.

Courier parcels will be sent out on a daily basis on a “next day” service with the exceptions being Scilly Isles, Scottish Highlands and islands, Republic of Ireland and Mainland Europe.

Smaller parcels will be sent out by first-class post.

Export

We will be happy to quote charges for export order.

Damages and Shortages

The customer shall report any damages or shortages to the company within 48 hours of delivery.

Provided prompt notice of transit damage or loss is given and provided it is proved to the company’s satisfaction that such damage occurred in transit in the UK but not otherwise, the company will refund, repair or replace such equipment free of charge to the customer. The company will not entertain claims made outside the stated time limits.

Warranty and Returns

When goods have been ordered in error, faulty or are not as expected, the company may agree to their return on the following conditions.

A request must be first authorised by Char UK within seven days of receipt of goods. Returned goods will only be accepted where authorisation has been given.

If you wish to return unwanted goods please ensure that any product you have bought is in original condition, unused and sent back to the original supplier with its original packing.

Your Statutory Rights are not affected.

Goods which are given free or as part of an offer, and made to order embroidered garments are not exchangeable or refundable, unless the full offer is returned, subject to normal conditions. All products, except consumables, are covered by our 12-month warranty.

Ownership and Risk

The risk in the goods shall pass from the company to the customer upon delivery of such goods to the customer. However, notwithstanding delivery and the passing of risk in the goods, title and property in the goods, including full legal and beneficial ownership, shall not pass to the customer until the company has received in cash or cleared funds, payment in full for all goods delivered to the customer under this and all other contracts between the company and the customer for which payment of the full price of the goods shall include the amount of any interest or other sum payable under the terms of this and all other contracts between the company and the customer under which the goods were delivered.

Product Misuse

Should any item malfunctions prove to be the result of abnormal use not intended for the purpose of the item or as a result of unskilled usage then the company retains the right of any costs arising from such investigations. Equipment and investigating the causes of the malfunction shall be payable to the company.

Liability

Under no circumstances shall the company be responsible for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages.

Our professional buyers work closely with the growers, and we import directly where we can. However, in the case of most perfumed teas there are specialist perfuming houses whom we appoint whether they be in England or on the Continent. In this way we ensure that we bring you the very best from the very best.

Our tasting and analysis of Assam and Darjeelings is undertaken for us by Phil Bayley to whom we are most grateful. Phil’s expertise is beyond question. He spent 32 years as a tea planter in Assam and has all the knowledge that only expertise combined with experience brings.

Payment

The company’s normal terms of business are for all payments to be made prior to dispatch of goods. The order will be deemed as placed once the company has received payment.
